A missing Texas woman was found safe on Friday after she disappeared without a phone or car.
Melonie Ballenger, 46, went missing from her home in Wylie on November 3. Officials said that Ballenger did not take a vehicle or a phone when she left.
The Wylie Police Department said a resident found Ballenger near Abby Lane and Tyler Trail at about 5:15 p.m. Friday. Officials said she was “severely dehydrated but otherwise in good health.”
She was reunited with her family and taken to a hospital for treatment.
“We want to thank everyone who worked day and night trying to find her. Please respect the privacy of the family as they reunite with their loved one,” the Wylie Police Department said in a Facebook post.
The Texas Department of Public Safety had issued a Coordinated Law Enforcement Adult Rescue “CLEAR” Alert for Ballenger.
Her husband, Daniel Ballenger, told CBS News Texas that the two went to bed together on Sunday, but she was gone when he woke up on Monday.
“She left with nothing,” Daniel said.
He said she also left behind vital medications and she was scheduled to have heart surgery in a few weeks.
Officials searched the area with assistance from K9 search dogs and a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter.
Police also asked for the public’s help in finding Melonie. Residents in the area were asked to review their outdoor camera footage between the hours of 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. on November 4.
Hundreds gathered at Gateway Community Church on November 5 for a vigil for Melonie. The family is part of the church’s congregation.
“Everybody’s really concerned about her,” pastor Blake Switzer told CBS News.
